Helen migrated to Australia from South Africa 35 years ago. In those days she was living and working the corporate life as an advertising Art Director and Designer and many hours, layouts and photo-shoots later moved from Sydney to Melbourne. After becoming disillusioned with the industry and experiencing a nagging back pain, she decided to follow her growing interest in Mind/Body movement and exercise. She had practised Yoga and was a huge aerobics fan in the 80s and 90s, but Pilates was something quite new to her in 1998 and just what was needed.
Undertaking teacher training with Australian Pilates Method (APMA) she became an instructor in 2003 and qualified in 2004.
After teaching in many of Melbourne’s South-side studios Helen made the move to the Central Victorian town of Castlemaine in 2011. Thanks to an old friend from teacher-training days the town had one Pilates studio! After commencing the National Pilates Training (NPT) course she became Diploma certified in 2012 and amongst many other conferences and workshops she has done much professional development in the areas of Pre & Post-Natal Pregnancy, Bone Density, Menopause and various pathological conditions in 21 years of teaching.
Helen is curious and has a creative approach to helping clients take charge of their well-being. She currently runs Studio (personalised) classes, Small Group Reformer and Mat classes from Mondays to Fridays at Pilates at The Mill.
When Helen isn’t involved with Pilates she is painting, printmaking or drawing and has been in various open studio shows and has shown at Artpuff gallery at The Mill Castlemaine.

Satoko started Pilates 13 years ago in Japan, after finding Pilates relieved her severe lower back pain. She has had a love and passion for the Pilates method ever since. In 2008 Satoko trained to become an instructor with Polestar Pilates in Japan, and in 2010 moved to Melbourne with her husband. In 2013 she completed the Pilates Diploma course with Polestar in Melbourne.
Satoko has taught in many studios in Melbourne with a wide range of clientele, including Prenatal and Postnatal Pilates classes, which she is particularly interested in. She is an enthusiastic teacher with a depth of knowledge, and generous teaching methods which ensure all who take her class leave feeling calm, strong and energized.
Satoko is also interested in the connection between the physical and the emotional, and has trained in Reiki, Kinegetics (Kinesiology and balancing energy), and Australian Bush Flower Essences. She wants to continue to develop her knowledge and skills to be able to support her clients in a holistic way.
Satoko also enjoys spending time with her family including her gorgeous Chihuahuas Roi, Toro and Sheila, and doing crochet!
